25 useful patterns for your next cosplays
It's not always easy to see the full potential of a suit, right? Yet, the same model can be useful to several looks. By just playing a little with the materials, colors, and finishes, you can create an infinite number of styles with the same base."
In this article, I present to you 25 of my most versatile patterns. These designs offer a ton of possibilities to bring your favorite characters to life.
๐ CLASSIC GLOVES
There's a reason I called them 'classic gloves'. They are truly a must-have for many cosplays; short, simple, yet elegant glove. Many, many characters wear them. Edward Elric and Roy Mustang from Fullmetal Alchemist for example.
But there are plenty of others! Mario Bros, Mickey Mouse, Jiminy Cricket, name it!
๐ THE PIRATE HAT
The big advantage of this hat pattern is that, even though there’s really just one model, you can make all sorts of styles with it. You just need to fold the brim differently to create a completely different style!
Same basic model to make the hat of Jack Sparrow or that of Barbossa. Even fancy Barbossa!
And it also works for the hats of D'Artagnan, Blackbeard, Puss in Boots, Grégoire de Fronsac or Napoleon Bonaparte.
๐ THE TOP HAT
Still in classic hats! This time, I'm talking about top hats. Whether it's to recreate the look of the Mad Hatter (Alice in Wonderland), Willy Wonka (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory), Dr. Facilier (Princess and the Frog), or Mr. Compress (My Hero Academia), the top hat is a must-have. ๐
๐ THE WITCH'S HAT
When we think of a witch's hat, we easily think of the Wicked Witch of the West from The Wizard of Oz. But this style of hat can be used for different characters: Gandalf (Lord of the Rings), the Black Mages from Final Fantasy, Megumin (Konosuba).
You'll understand, we're still in a magical vibe. But, not necessarily an ugly witch with a wart on her nose.
๐ THE BERET
The famous beret! There are plenty of ways to make this type of hat. That's why I offer 3 options in the same pattern. It also means that you have even more possibilities. Just choose what works best with the look you want. Whether it's Jaskier (The Witcher), Cammy (Street Fighter), or even Dixie Kong (Donkey Kong Country).
๐ THE ARCHER'S HAT
You know, this type of hat is sometimes called "Peter Pan hat" or "Robin Hood hat"... there’s clearly a reason. It’s definitely a must if you’re preparing a cosplay of one of these 2 characters. ๐
๐ THE CLERICAL TUNIC
This tunic is super simple and perfect for wearing under a breastplate, a tabard, or a gambeson. Its very wide collar gives a scarf look, without you needing to make a separate scarf. Perfect, of course, for recreating Pike Trickfoot (Legend of Vox Machina), but also for Chilchuck Tims (Delicious in Dungeon) or even Fievel (An American Tail).
๐ THE ROGUE TUNIC
The contrasting trim at the front of this tunic adds a detail that reminds several characters. With a few minor modifications, this pattern could easily be used for a cosplay of Natsu (Fairy Tail) or Himmel (Frienen).
๐ THE SIMPLE PANTS
Always handy to have a simple pants pattern that adapts to many styles. This bundle includes 2! The 2 models look quite similar, the difference is mainly in the width of the leg: one option is straighter and one option is wider. This gives you even more options without overthinking it.
I used these patterns for Vax’ildan, Grog, Pike, and Scanlan (Legend of Vox Machina). But also for the outfit of Jedi.
And you can also use it for a whole bunch of other characters. Particularly useful for layered costumes (the simple cut and elastic waist create a minimum of thickness). Kakashi (Naruto), Shanks (Onepiece), Zorro (Onepiece), and many others.
๐ THE HAREM PANTS
The Harem pants are quite similar to simple pants, but even wider. They are perfect for characters like Jasmine and the Genie (Aladdin), Marle (Chrono Trigger), or Usopp (Onepiece). Simple, but still very versatile. ๐
๐ THE SAROUEL PANTS-JUMPSUIT
I have tested a lot of harem pants over time. But this one is by far my favorite. It always fits well, it is super comfortable, it has style.
If you're planning a cosplay of Aladdin, this is the pattern I recommend. It also works really well for Inosuke (Demon Slayer): here's Ladyplier cosplay as evidence.
๐ THE SOFT BOOTS
I really like that pattern!
I know it's not always easy to find the right footwear for a cosplay.
But, if you're looking for small soft boots, I can help you! My pattern would make an excellent base, for a cosplay of Chilchuck (Delicious in Dungeon), San Goku (Dragon Ball), and even Oogie Boogie (Nightmare Before Christmas) - why not!
The bundle includes different models with different boot heights for plenty of options.
๐ THE MULTI-PURPOSE CAPE
Dracula, the Little Red Riding Hood, Lando Calrissian, Darth Vader, Aragorn, Frodo… There are tons of characters wearing capes! And with this super versatile pattern, you'll be able to complete your costume with ease.
๐ THE ROGUE CAPE
Although I created this pattern for the cosplay of Vax’ildan (Legend of Vox Machina), it’s clearly a model that would work perfectly for John Snow, right?
๐ THE MANDALORIAN CAPE
For a slightly different cape look, I can suggest the cape pattern from Mandalorian. You don't have to be an intergalactic bounty hunter for this pattern to be relevant. It works for all kinds of characters. With a few minor adjustments, you could easily recreate the look of Phoebus (Hunchback of Notre Dame) or a Spartan (300).
๐ THE JEDI ROBE
The first option is in the name. This pattern is perfect (and even literally created) for making a cosplay of Jedi. But you can also use it to make other costumes. The large volume of the coat would fit perfectly with the look of Gandalf, a Nazgul, or even St-Nicolas.
๐ THE MEDIEVAL HOOD
In addition to being a classic for LARPing, the medieval hood can also serve you for different cosplays. Perfect for the winter outfit of Belle (Beauty and the Beast) or certain versions of the White Mages from Final Fantasy. Or, you can do like Midori Witch and use it for your cosplay of Marcille (Delicious in Dungeon),
๐ THE GOBLIN HOOD
I love this pattern. It's just so funny. ๐
1 pattern, 3 styles of ears, to give you more choices: The straight ears are perfect for making a hood of Grogu or Yoda (Star Wars). The downturned ears are ideal for a Dobby (Harry Potter) costume. And the upturned ears work great for recreating the look of Bokoblins in Zelda.
๐ THE BARBARIAN PAULDRON
This pattern for EVA foam, I created it for a cosplay of Grog Strongjaw, the barbarian from Vox Machina. But, shoulder pads like this can be found on all sorts of characters. With minimal modifications to the base design, you can create the shoulder pad for the adventurer outfit of Link (Tears of the Kingdom), for exemple.
๐ THE ROGUE PAULDRON
Speaking of versatile shoulder pad patterns, this one was created for Vax’ildan. But it would also work really well as a base for Kratos.
๐ THE RANGER CORSET
This pattern is just simple enough to suit really several characters. Almost no modifications to make and you already have a perfect base for Ciri (The Witcher), Esmeralda (Hunchback of Notre Dame) or Harley Quinn (Arkham Asylum)... to name just these characters.
๐ THE PLAGUE MASK
I created this pattern to complete my cosplay of Percy de Rolo. However, the plague mask can be used for several other characters. Nemoto Shin and several other members of the Yakuza in My Hero Academia wear masks of the same type.
๐ THE SMALL DEMON HORNS
Ok, I'm cheating, this one isn't one of my pattern. It's a 3D file designed by Floeur Creations. But it works too, because it's a versatile product available in my shop. ๐
In addition to being able to create all sorts of fantastic characters like little demons, satyrs, and others, these short horns could very well be used to recreate the look of Darth Maul or even Mike Wazowski (okay, now I kinda wanna to see a Mike Wazowski cosplay)!
๐ THE SPIKED SHELL
I created this spiked shell for a Bowser Jr. cosplay. But I knew it would be relevant for a lot of other things. Proof is, I have clients who have purchased this pattern for cosplays of Bowsette, Koopa, Dry Bones, and even Squirtle.
๐ BELT POUCHES
If you're looking to make a utility-belt, I'm sure you're going to love this pattern. The set of 3 pouch of different shapes can be easily resized and replicated infinitely to add as many pockets as needed to your costume. Perfect for superhero costumes like Batman, Deadpool, Cyclops, or Nightcrawler. Or for more casual outfits like C-17 (Dragonball) or Lucca (Chrono Trigger).
Even if some patterns seem super specific at first glance, sometimes it just takes a few simple alterations to give them a completely different look. This shows that a pattern can become the basis for many different cosplays.
I hope this list will give you some ideas for your upcoming projects. ๐
